Class Description

**This is a 3 hour long class **
We absolutely love the thrill of musical theater. The sequence, the tap dancing, the jazz hands; we love it! But there’s nothing like stripping away the dazzling chorus and focusing on the text. This extended class will do just that! We’ll produce a straight play over 10 weeks. We will be preforming a small excerpt for Showcase.  Then will will put this fully staged production on for families and friends at on 3/1/2020 at Lee Lockwood Theater. A mandatory dress rehearsal will be held on 2/29/2020.
****This is an AUDITION only class.****

Auditions: Thursday, December 5th
Audition info: Cold reads (Night of auditions I will give you an expert from the play and you will read it with emphasis) I will select 10- 20 students to participate.
Production Synopsis: A group of students get up in the morning, jumping into the expected cycle of every school day--but today, the school they go to is part of a larger, terrifying cycle of mass shootings. In a series of connected scenes and monologues that occur before, during, and after the event, young people of all stripes piece together what is happening and why. Some students reach out to loved ones, while others help each other through panic. Some imagine their futures--if they live to see them--and some piece together what has happened in the frantic moments afterwards. With fire, humor, and power, Declaration gives students a voice to ask whether the promise of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" can be fulfilled, crouched behind a barricaded classroom door.

**Anyone who does not make it into this class will be transferred into another class of their choosing and $45.00 will be credited to your account or refunded. **
