Stephanie Gerath is the Artistic Director for CYT Waco. She has worked in both public and private educational settings for the last 8 years. She is very excited to bring her knowledge of Theater to CYT children! She brings with her many years of theatre experience including her most recent stage appearance in Waco Civic Theatre's production of "Les Miserables." She has also performed in other musicals such as "42nd Street" and "Bye Bye Birdie." She has also directed and designed many of CYT Waco's shows since "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown". She loves the technical side of theatre and has worked hard to build skills in costuming, set design, and stage makeup. Stephanie feels incredibly blessed to be on this amazing adventure with CYT.
Carol grew up in Abingdon, Virginia where she loved "making a joyful noise" in various church and school choirs. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Human Service/ Counseling from Liberty University in 1991. While being a stay-at-home/homeschooling Mom, Carol has volunteered in various roles with the Children's Choir programs at her church starting in Cookeville, Tennessee, and continuing after moving to Johnson City, Tennessee where she served as the Children's Choir Coordinator for Tri-Cities Baptist Church. Her family moved to Waco in 2016, and she and her daughter, Natalie, were excited to discover CYT Waco and find their theater family. Their first CYT Waco production was Rapunzel where Carol served on the Costume Committee. She continued with costumes, leading the committee for both Alice and Seussical. Carol is looking forward to working with the parents and leadership of CYT Waco to make every production the best that it can be to give a praise offering to our God who provides all the talents - both on-stage and behind the scenes.
Amanda was born and raised in the Waco area where she participated in middle and high school theater programs. She loves all aspects of the theatre. She has a degree in Biblical Studies, a bachelor’s in Sociology and a master’s degree in Public Administration. Amanda is also the Director of Sports and Special Events at the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce. Her daughter fell in love with CYT as she watched “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” from the audience and later joined CYT on stage with “The Wizard of Oz”. Amanda helped backstage with makeup and props during many shows before coming onboard as the Class Coordinator. Amanda serves on the prayer team and in women’s ministry at church. She is blessed to join the CYT team and looks forward to helping families grow in Christ through the love of theater.
Matthew grew up at CYT Tri City in San Diego, CA. He has worked backstage, sound, spot lights, and performed on stage throughout his 10 years of theater experience. He's performed in other theater groups as well in San Diego and Temecula. His volunteer experience with Law Enforcement and work in the U.S. Air Force taught him valuable leadership lessons. Matthew is the HYPE Advisor for CYT Waco. He mentors high school students who are HYPE members on topics like responsibility, leadership, discipline, and discipleship. Matthew enjoys serving his community in multiple ways and inspiring others to volunteer as well.
Shannon was born and raised in the Southern CA area where she participated in multiple sports, was also involved in middle and high school choirs, as well as her local church theater programs. She has a heart and a passion for working with families and youth in her community. She has a BS in Kinesiology and holds a TX teaching certificate. Her family moved to Waco in 2004. Shannon's family was introduced to CYT Waco through family friends, and her girls fell in love with theater during a CYT camp. That following fall, her 2 oldest daughters joined the cast of School House Rock. The next show, Shannon's son decided to join CYT and was cast in, Into The Woods Jr. Shannon has helped backstage with costumes before joining the CYT Waco staff as Show Coordinator. She feels honored to be a part of the incredible ministry and outreach that CYT brings to the families of the Waco area.
